Donna & Rich had a perfectly planned & executed wedding at Oglebay Resort in West Virginia & I was honored to handle their wedding photography for the day.
Did you ever just meet one of those couples that you know are going to be a blast to get to know? Well, Donna & Rich are one of those couples! Their energy just wraps you in and gives you a boost of endorphins so that it’s impossible to be in anything other than a good mood.
Donna met Rich online with a little help from her friends who not only helped her create her profile, but had a hand in picking Rich. Good thing Donna’s friends know her so well & that Donna trusted them to have a hand in picking her future husband!
Donna’s friends⬆️…are they at it again? 🧐
Donna & Rich’s wedding day began with a beautiful ceremony at Peters Creek Baptist Church. The church itself was gorgeous! It was light & bright which is a photographer’s dream:) From there, we were off to Oglebay to celebrate their union!
Here are some photos from their ceremony.
This was my first wedding at Oglebay & I was impressed! The top-notch staff was always a step ahead so that every detail was attended to. The ballroom was beautiful and we found a gorgeous little nook right outside of it for the Bride/Groom photos.
And then, there are the details! I LOVE LOVE LOVE bridal details! Why? Because I feel like they play a big part in making a couple’s day personal to them! There were 3 pins on Donna’s bouquet – one for each of her granddaughters as their something old when they get married. What a wonderful tradition! The bouquet also had pictures of her Mom, Dad and Aunt Mary who have all passed.
The details also included Eric Clapton tickets. Donna & Rich planned to see his concert on their honeymoon when they traveled to Germany & Italy. Funny story. Donna & Rich looked at their tickets a few days before the concert and thought that the concert had been canceled & rescheduled for a date that they weren’t going to be in the country. So, they gifted their tickets to the concierge at the hotel who had been very helpful to them.
On the day of the originally scheduled concert, that same concierge was searching frantically for them. He found them with a surprising message to deliver. The concert was on! Donna & Rich had been looking at 2020’s rescheduled date and not the 2021 date. Funnily enough the dates were the same…only the year was different! So happy that the concierge figured that out and found them so that they could get to the concert in time!
Donna’s presence is captivating. She is very animated & just full of energy! And, her dress…by designer Stephen Yearick…is probably one of my favorite wedding dresses of all time. She looked like a legit movie star! And, I think Rich gives off that 007 Sean Connery vibe, don’t ya think?
Donna & Rich had a small, intimate reception and selected each guest in attendance because they had been an important presence in their lives. The reception was filled with love & laughter and a good time was had by all. The dance floor was full the entire time!
I am so filled with gratitude that Donna & Rich entrusted me with their wedding photography. I love that I get to be a part of my couples’ special days & I treat each one as if it were my own. Each wedding is as unique and special as each couple. I love that I play a small part in their wedding day!
